If the world were 100 people

If I can’t see it, it doesn’t really affect me! This is an acceptable and somewhat implicit answer that people (mainly us 5%-ers) give as a response for impact of shrinking polar caps, poaching or brexit. As opinionated as we might be.

As my MBA days tick on I am slowly starting to realise a few things:

  • I am fortunate to be part of this internationally recognised success-begets-success system. This appreciation lasts only as long as the guilt creeps in. Why guilt? Well, what were the things that gave me access to the opportunity to do an MBA? And, more importantly, was I born into it or did I achieve something based on merit and not something I have been privileged to? As a 3%-er the answer, by definition, is obvious.
  • This MBA is not about me, it is about the other 95% who may never get access to do an international MBA at a top-ranked European Business School despite how hard they work or how ‘smart’ they are. Ouch!!
  • Be that as it may, I am in the best position to do something about it. The best way to change something is from the inside. I am not saying that I want to change the MBA system, I am saying that I can change something inside of me, and maybe just perhaps, inside my fellow MBAers
Below is a great video explaining this:
